This role focuses on fabricating and fitting structural and sheet metal components in a job shop manufacturing environment. You will interpret job orders, bills of materials, and blueprints to create accurate cut lists, lay out materials, and prepare assemblies for welding. While other team members can perform welding and shearing, you will add value by bringing strong layout, fitting, and fabrication skills to support a wide variety of custom projects.
Responsibilities
You will join a flexible, laid-back, and autonomous work environment where teamwork and mutual support are core values. The organization offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 401(k) plan with up to 6% match and additional profit sharing contributions. Employees benefit from paid holidays, structured vacation increases over time—from 1 week in the first year up to 5 weeks at 20 years—and a culture that rewards hard work and collaboration. The profit-sharing program provides an additional incentive tied to company performance, reinforcing a shared commitment to success.
Work Environment
This position is based in a job shop manufacturing facility with approximately 15 employees working on first shift. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with some Saturdays required depending on workload (Saturday hours are also 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). The environment involves working with structural and sheet metal materials, including hard steel, aluminum, and stainless, using tools such as grinders, saws, press brakes, shears, and punch presses. The building can become quite warm in the summer and cold in the winter, so comfort working in varying temperatures is important. Safety is a priority, and you must wear safety glasses, a hard hat, and steel-toe shoes. The dress code allows jeans and an appropriate T-shirt, provided all safety requirements are met.
