Posting Details The Law Enforcement Records Bureau gathers, analyzes, and disseminates criminal justice data used by New Mexico law enforcement, criminal justice, corrections, courts, and civil agencies to ensure public safety. The bureau maintains complete and accurate records and responds to the needs of the public, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies providing support and customer engagement through our many applications, programs, and services to achieve the mission objectives.
Why does the job exist? Ensures Law Enforcement Records Bureau (LERB) compliance with federal criminal justice information laws and regulations. Manages secure integration and use of federal systems to maintain data integrity and public trust. Oversees compliance programs, policy implementation, inter-agency coordination, and risk mitigation. Supports the bureau's mission of providing reliable, secure, and timely law enforcement records services. Manages federal compliance and integration programs, system access, audits, and policy initiatives. Monitors program performance and reports to executive leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provides guidance to Law Enforcement.
- Oversees federal grant funding, program budgets, and expenditures.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and allocates resources efficiently.
- Assigns tasks, reviews work and ensures adherence to policies.
- Conducts performance evaluations, training, and workload management.
- Maintains integrity, security, and lawful use of criminal justice information.
How does it get done? Ensure bureau compliance with federal criminal justice information laws and standards. Manage secure use and integration of federal systems (CJIS, NLETS, NCIC). Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures. Oversee audits, risk mitigation, and interagency coordination. Supervise LERB staff, including task management, training, and performance reviews. Manage federal funding and program budgets. Monitor program performance and report to leadership. Serve as liaison with federal and state partners.
Who are the customers? General Public, Law Enforcement, Courts, Corrections, Civil, and Criminal Justice Agencies.
Ideal Candidate Experienced in federal compliance, criminal justice information systems, and records management. Strong knowledge of CJIS, NCIC, NLETS, and relevant federal regulations. Proven leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage staff and programs. Skilled in policy development, audits, risk management, and inter-agency coordination. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and a commitment to secure and lawful information sharing.
Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and fingerprinting in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations; and is conditional pending results. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section 5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or pass and receive the Defensive Driving Certificate within six (6) months of date of hire.
The selected candidate will work with highly confidential and high-volume data flow must have the ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy within strict time constraints as well as, handle multiple tasks and request from several people at once.
Working Conditions Office setting, exposure to Visual Video Display terminal and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. Travel required.
