We are seeking a skilled Help Desk Technician with hands-on experience in installation, troubleshooting, and repair within Windows-based environments. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide timely support to end users.

Location: Frankfort, KY.

Duration: Long term indefinite Contract

Status : Onsite

 

Job Description Cabinet Information Technology Branch is seeking individuals to work on the Help Desk (Tier 1) as a Help Desk Technician. The CABINET Help Desk is a 24/7/365 support center for all CABINET network and system operations. The Cabinet Help Desk provides Information Technology phone and remote support for Law Enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth.
 
ShiftHours:  
 

• 1 Contractor for 3rd shift

Sunday – Wednesday 12:30 am – 11:00 am

• 1 Contractor for 2nd shift

Wednesday – Saturday 2:00 pm – 12:30 am  
 

• Occasional temporary changes in shifts are possible to provide adequate coverage.? Temporary changes will be coordinated with the contract employee first. 
• When other shifts open, seniority is used to fill those shifts.
• The first month on the job will be day shift (Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm) to allow for training before moving to permanent shift days/time. 

 
Key Responsibilities:  

• Main responsibility is to be the first contact for incoming help desk calls and create tickets. 
• Troubleshoot problems with desktops, notebooks, Mobile Data Terminals, in-car video recorders, printers, network connectivity, other law enforcement technology, etc. 
• Use remote tools to help fix hardware and software issues 
• Collects data for support personnel and creates tickets for Tier 2 and above support. 
• Performs other standard help desk and operational functions, including entering, executing, and monitoring production systems. 
• Assists with and maintains the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Kentucky network. 
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned or needed by the agency.

• Moderate computer and software skills 
• Troubleshooting skills 
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere 
• Ability to handle stressful situations 
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications 
• Ability to receive training and retain new knowledge
