TITLE: LENDING UNDERWRITER

REPORTS TO: LENDING MANAGER

PAY SCALE: $23.52 - $39.40 PER HOUR

Sacramento Credit Union is seeking a candidate who enjoys detail-oriented work and has consumer loan underwriting skills for our Loan Underwriter position in downtown Sacramento. An individual who has the ability to perform underwriting functions in an accurate and timely manner would be successful in our environment.

This position is a full-time position with a fixed schedule so it's perfect for individuals wanting a work/life balance. The 38/40-hour schedule is as follows:

Monday 8:00am-5:00pm

Tuesday 8:00am-5:00pm

Wednesday 8:00am-5:00pm

Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm

Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (OFF if working Sunday)

Saturday Off

Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm (Alternating weekly)

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Underwrite loans within designated loan approval authority or submit application recommendations to manager for decisioning.
• Issue consumer loan approvals, counteroffers and denials in conformance with SCU consumer loan guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Analyze credit applications received from all channels. Analysis includes, but is not limited to, reviewing applicant's financial status, credit history, collateral and property evaluation, verifying employment, calculating debt ratios, and reviewing any other factors necessary to evaluate credit worthiness to determine feasibility of granting credit to loan requests.
• Provide loan processing, servicing and administrative support to the Consumer Lending Department by performing loan departmental tasks as needed.
• Communicate loan status to internal customers and gather additional information as necessary. Set loan rates, terms and conditions with internal customers in accordance with SCU guidelines. Document loan approval and funding conditions.
• Maintain and prepare reports such as loan pipeline, rate surveys and other consumer lending reports.
• As loan production dictates, review decisioned loan requests and stipulations, prepare necessary loan documents and arrange for funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. and experience in a position involving credit, underwriting and loan processing.
• Three years consumer loan underwriting experience in a financial institution including auto lending, credit cards and unsecured personal lines of credit.
• Education or training in consumer lending laws and regulations.
• Working knowledge of financial services products and services, underwriting guidelines, regulations, and credit fundamentals is preferred.
• Demonstrated computer skills and familiarity with software programs such as Word, Excel, MeridianLink.
• Demonstrated inter-personal communication and member contact skills.
• Maintains good attendance record.
