Role - Power BI Developer

Location - St. Louis Park - Minnesota

First Preference is for MN based candidates

Location Remote, must be able to work central 8:30am to 5pm
Must have experience working with Power BI and MCP.
Contract 3 months with potential extension

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with 6 7 years of experience in Business Intelligence, data visualization, and analytics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing scalable Power BI solutions, developing semantic models, optimizing report performance, and collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights. Experience with data platforms such as Azure and SQL Server is required.

Required Experience

• 6 7 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Data Warehousing.
• Minimum 4 5 years of hands-on experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Experience working with MCP.

Technical Skills

Power BI

• Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Mobile.
• Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and scorecards.
• Build reusable semantic models using star schema and dimensional modeling principles.
• Develop and optimize complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and calculated tables.
• Configure Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and workspace security.
• Publish, manage, and monitor Power BI workspaces, apps, and deployment pipelines.
• Implement incremental refresh and composite models.
• Optimize report performance using Performance Analyzer and DAX Studio.

SQL & Data

• Strong SQL development skills with experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience working with large enterprise datasets.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data integration.
• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server,

Cloud & Modern Data Platforms (Preferred)
Experience with Microsoft Fabric is preferred



Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Gather reporting requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop efficient DAX calculations and reusable data models.
• Build scalable semantic models for enterprise reporting.
• Optimize Power BI reports for performance and usability.
• Implement security using Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Troubleshoot report issues and optimize data refresh performance.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to build reliable datasets.
• Create and maintain documentation for reports, datasets, and data models.
• Monitor report usage and recommend enhancements.
• Support production deployments and resolve reporting incidents.
• Ensure adherence to BI governance, naming standards, and best practices.

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Healthcare, finance, manufacturing, or retail analytics.
• Executive KPI dashboards.
• Financial reporting and operational reporting.
• AI-assisted analytics and Copilot in Power BI.
