Project Engineer – Mechanical (Automotive)

Travel: Up to 25%

We are hiring a Project Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background and automotive experience to support vehicle programs from concept through production and sustainment. This role will coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts, manage engineering changes, and serve as a technical interface between internal teams and external customers.

Mechanical Engineer (Project) Job Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering projects related to vehicle design, build, production support, and sustaining engineering
• Manage or contribute to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and formal engineering change control processes
• Interpret and apply technical drawings, specifications
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and suppliers to ensure successful execution of projects
• Track project schedules, risks, costs, and deliverables using standard project management tools
• Provide technical support during prototype builds, testing, and production launch
• Serve as a customer-facing technical representative , addressing issues and presenting engineering solutions
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, quality, and schedule

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 3+ years of experience in project engineering or a related engineering role
• Experience managing or contributing to ECPs or formal engineering change management
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience in automotive or vehicle systems engineering , including design, build, production support, or sustainment
• Proficiency with CAD tools and MS Office applications (Excel, Project)
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and customer-facing skills
• Willingness to travel up to 25%
