Job Description
Senior UX Designer Location: 100% Remote – United States
Type: 6-month Contract
We are seeking a Senior / Lead UX Designer who is first and foremost an exceptional hands-on designer in Figma, with the ability to think strategically and influence product decisions in a collaborative environment.
This is not a research-heavy role. Instead, the ideal candidate is a maker-leader: someone who can own complex eCommerce experiences end-to-end in Figma while bringing a strong, informed point of view to product discussions, grounded in best practices, conversion principles, and real-world eCommerce experience (Baymard certification or equivalent experience is a plus).
You will work closely with product, engineering, analytics, and design partners to shape high-performing shopping experiences across the customer journey. You’ll be expected to execute at a high level daily while also acting as a thought partner in strategic conversations about UX, conversion, and usability.
What This Role Is (and Isn’t) This role IS: - Highly hands-on in Figma
- eCommerce-focused
- Strategic in product conversations
- Lead-level influence (no people management)
This role is NOT: - A dedicated UX researcher role
- A pure visual designer role
- A low-execution, high-theory position
Qualifications: - 5–7+ years of UX/UI experience with strong eCommerce focus
- Strong hands-on Figma portfolio (DTC or retail preferred)
- Proven experience designing key eCommerce flows (PDP, search, cart, checkout)
- Solid grasp of information architecture, user flows, and design systems
- Strong visual design fundamentals (typography, layout, hierarchy, spacing, color)
- Ability to ship high-quality work quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Thoughtful, structured problem solver
- Effective cross-functional collaborator (Product, Engineering, Research)
- Comfortable operating as a Lead-level designer without people management
- (Nice) Baymard certification or equivalent eCommerce training
Essential Duties: Hands-on UX & UI Execution: - Design and ship high-quality, accessible, and scalable eCommerce interfaces in Figma
- Build detailed user flows, annotated wireframes, and high/low-fidelity prototypes
- Create clean, well-organized, dev-ready design files and component systems
- Translate business requirements and user needs into intuitive digital experiences
- Own end-to-end design execution for key features and site improvements
Strategic Influence (lead presence, not management): - Bring a strong POV to product and design meetings based on eCommerce best practices
- Identify opportunities to improve usability, conversion, and customer experience
- Use qualitative insights and available data to inform design decisions
- Partner with User Researchers to iterate on experiments and usability improvements
- Help shape design direction without needing to run formal research programs yourself
Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and QA partners
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Present and defend design decisions in a compelling, thoughtful way
- Adapt designs based on feedback while maintaining a high bar for quality
