Job Description

Manager of Government Relations

At Coco, we're dedicated to perfecting the last-mile delivery experience through robotics. We believe the delivery industry today is massively under-serving merchants, so we're building a frictionless, reliable, and sustainable solution for cities everywhere.

Coco operates a fast-growing fleet of delivery robots across major U.S. markets, partnering with cities, merchants, and communities to enable a new kind of urban logistics.

About the Role

As the Manager of Government Relations, you will support Coco's regulatory strategy and public sector engagement across its operating markets. You will build relationships with government representatives and community stakeholders in existing markets (e.g., Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Jersey City) and assist our expansion into new cities and states.

This is a highly cross-functional, externally facing role. You will work closely with Operations, Legal, Product, and other teams to ensure Coco can launch and scale successfully in complex regulatory environments.

What You'll Do
  • Build and manage relationships with city officials, regulators, and local stakeholders across assigned markets

  • Support market launches and expansions by helping secure permits, approvals, and favorable operating conditions

  • Represent Coco in meetings, hearings, and working groups with public sector stakeholders

  • Track and interpret local legislation, regulatory changes, and permitting processes affecting autonomous delivery

  • Partner with Operations and Legal to ensure day-to-day compliance with local rules and requirements

  • Help develop market-specific engagement strategies to support Coco's growth

  • Support community engagement efforts, including outreach to neighborhood groups, business associations, and advocacy organizations

  • Assist in identifying and evaluating new market opportunities, including regulatory feasibility and stakeholder landscape

  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and updates for internal stakeholders and leadership

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between policy, operations, and product decisions

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs

  • Experience working with local or state government stakeholders (e.g., city officials, DOTs, regulatory agencies)

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate permitting, regulatory, or public sector processes

  • Ability to travel up to 30%

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating across teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mobility, robotics, transportation, or logistics

  • Familiarity with municipal policy environments in major U.S. cities

  • Experience supporting market launches, expansions, or public-private partnerships

  • Background in a high-growth startup or fast-paced environment

  • Existing network in key markets is a plus
